Dr. Irasema Gonzalez

Dr. Salinas-Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where she teaches courses in early care and early childhood education. She has been working in the area of early childhood education and bilingual education for the past 27 years in as an early childhood bilingual educator in public schools and early care settings, as well as working with in-service and pre-service early childhood education teachers. Her work focuses on language and literacy development of young dual language learners through play, the development of cognitive skills of dual language learners through play-based learning and creating engaging classroom environments for young dual language learners.
