Dr. Hasina F. Huq

Dr. Hasina F. Huq is an Associate Professor and the Graduate Program Director in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Dr. Huq's teaching and research interests include electronics, wide-bandgap semiconductor devices, biosensors, high temperature electronics and VLSI integrated circuits (IC) design. Her research work in these areas has been published widely in peer-reviewed journals as well as in conference proceedings (more than fifty research papers and book chapters). Dr. Huq was collaborating with Oak Ridge National Laboratories ORNL, Knoxville, TN and worked with a team of researchers on wide band gap WBG semiconductors materials and processing issues. She served as a Principal investigator/co-principal investigator to many multi-year grants from the US Department of Defense (DoD), the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Huq also received a grant from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). She also served as a Panelist at the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems. She is the recipient of the NanoHUB Education Scholarship (Purdue University), Network for Computational Nanotechnology award, Faculty Research Council (FRC) award, Summer Research Initiative award, Undergraduate Research Initiative (URI) award and Title V- HSI award. She served as a NSF ADVANCE STEM fellow at UTPA (2012-14). Dr. Huq is currently the director of the ‘Sputtering System Lab’ and one of the founder members of the “Microelectronics Research Laboratory, at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She is a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and a member of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW).
